Sassari celebrates on August 14th a festival known as I Candelieri, a medieval parade where local residents wear traditional costumes and carry giant wooden candlesticks to commemorate the town's defeat of the plague.

The Ardia is an insanely dangerous horse-racing event celebrating some ancient battle and taking place every year on July 6th and 7th in Sedilo. Here riders race with really little care for their and others safety while the locals enjoy drinking and partying.
